Aix-en-Provence

This is Cezanne's home town. He was born here and he painted here. His Dad wanted him to work in the family bank, but Cezanne wanted brush and paint to capture the "light" of Provence.

And after you have wandered about the town, you sort of get an idea of what might have diverted Cezanne from adding up the figures to the greater task of figuring it all out. Of course no-one got what he was on about until after he was dead - fame in any endeavour can be a long time coming.
