Ile de la Cite

One of the small islands in the middle of the Seine River - the birthplace of Paris. Home to Notre Dame, the cathedral of Paris and also to Sainte-Chapelle and the Conciergerie. Once a part of a royal palace, the Conciergerie became a prison and during the revolution notables such as Marie-Antoinette were held here in the small cells. Sainte-Chapelle was built in 1248, it's old and part of it's magic was spoilt for us with the revovator's scaffolding in the upper chapel and the souvenier stall in the lower chamber.
