Rouen - Notre Dame

Every town worth it's salt has a Notre Dame Cathedral. Rouen's is even more famous because Monet did about thirty paintings of it over the period 1892-1894 (which just goes to show you that even the experts have to try a number of times before they get things right).

The current cleaning job is taking about 18 months and costing around three million euros, so that gives you an idea about the level of importance the locals place on this building. It surely must bring lots of tourist dollars to the town.
