Casa Batllo, Barcelona

Casa Batllo is billed as one of Antonio Gaudi's materpieces. This famous Spanish architect spent his life in Barcelona and was one of the leading exponents of the Catalan Modernism architectural style. Gaudi's design is seen in the shapes, ceramics, stained glass, wrought ironwork forging and carpentry in his buildings. It's intriguing. It's beautiful. It's not dull.

The Batllo family who entrusted the remodeling of this building to Gaudi wanted something completely different, and that's what they got. Gaudi completely changed the main apartment which became the residence for the Batllo family. He expanded the central light well in order to provide natural light to the whole building and also added new floors. The building was refurbished by Gaudi in 1906.
